About
MAI was founded in the 1930s at its original location at Hillside Drive, next to Masjid Haji Yusoff. It was only officially listed as a registered school in August 1946 under the Education Act. There were approximately 40 students who attended the madrasah back then.
Aligned to its mission to be a leading institution recognised for developing future-ready learners that radiate blessings to all, MAI is the Centre of Excellence & Collaboration (COEC) in Applied Learning iSTEM (Islam & Science, Engineering, and Mathematics) for the madrasah sector. To facilitate the pervasive and meaningful use of technology in madrasah’s Islamic studies and academic curriculum, it has initiated “The Future of Learning in MAI (TFLM)” movement. MAI has set its sights to be a leading institution in the transformation of traditional classrooms in Singapore madrasahs.
MAI hopes that its graduates will develop into persons with taqwa, thinkers and learners, and leaders with compassion.

Achievements
iSTEM (Islam & Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) Programme
Structured programme to nurture interest in iSTEM has led to many notable accomplishments in student conferences and competitions like the International Competitions and Assessment for Schools (ICAS) organized by University of New South Wales, Australia, Mathematics and Science Olympiads both in national as well as international competitions. For example, in the recent Singapore and Asian Schools Math Olympiad (SASMO). 18 MAI students managed to clinch the Gold, Silver and Bronze medal for SASMO. These was out of 10,000 students who took part from more than 20 Asian countries.
Beyond academic achievements, MAI is also the only madrasah in the list of schools in Singapore that has been awarded the highest tier for the School Green Award from 2016 to 2019. Currently, it is on track for the Sustainable Vanda Miss Joaquim Award for 2020.
Good Student All Rounded Achievements
Students from MAI not only has consistently emerged in the top 1% of the madrasah students’ cohort for the GCE ‘O’ level examinations annually, but they also achieved awards in CCA competitions like Tahfiz, Khatib and Tilawah competitions, and sports tournaments like Fencing, Archery, Badminton, Soccer, and Netball.
Niche in Mathematics and Sciences
Our academic curriculum places emphasis on Mathematics and Sciences education enriched with Islamic philosophy. The goal is to develop students to become students of distinction, equipped with scientific knowledge, skills and understanding that is in tandem with Islamic principles as well as values. MAI’s curated and tiered programme are tailored to stretch students for exposure in the varied disciplines of Science and Mathematics.
Students who show potential in learning beyond their level and has the fortitude and strength will qualify for Tier 3 programme. This is the highest tier where students will be nominated for the highly competitive and prestigious A*STAR Youth Research Program, YRP.
Through this tiered programme, Nur Daiyyinah Aqilah Mohammad Riza was offered a place by A*STAR in YRP for 2019/20. For 2020/21 session this honour goes to two students: Mishel Maryam Nasir (S3) and Kashfia Humaira Shahjahan (S3).

Take a course on using online platforms to teach

DISCUSSIONS on inter-racial relations fueled by several recent racist incidents were held with Singapore in a strong position in terms of its multicultural citizen relations. Madrasah Al-Arabiah Graduate balances Studies and being Imam
Every free time, especially on weekends, Mr Sadiqul Amin Mazlan can be found at Masjid Al-Taqua or Masjid Kassim. There, he will carry out duties as imam, muazzin, part-time teacher or assisting in administrative works.
